To understand this you need to enter
#top command in command line and you can see processes running at the machine.
When program is downloaded into computer memory, it runs a process. Each process has unique process identification number, (PID). Parent process identification number is assigned to each process and shows which process started our current process. For example, if process with PID = 0 started process with PID = 1, than PID = 0 is parent for PID = 1.
