Defect life cycle, also known as Bug Life cycle is the journey of a defect cycle, which a defect goes through during its lifetime. It varies from organization to organization and also from project to project as it is governed by the software testing process and also depends upon the tools used.
Bug life cycle starts with a built or code, its deployed, tested and a bug is found. the bug is reproduced 3 times, then its reported to the lead, its assigned to a developer its rebuilt then its tested again

A defect/Bug life cycle consists of error, fault, and then failure.
Error being the human who creates it.
Fault being the cause of the error created by the human.
Failure is the actual failed cause in operation.
