After creating test sets and move test scripts from Testplan module to test lab this is where the tester executes the tests manually and if any defect found a tester can log a defect from the test lab itself.
The purpose of test lab is to call each test case and test the test steps either manually or automatically. In that time it is possible to assign pass or fail for each test step. It has also option to got to defect window directly.

the test lab is where you execute what you will be testing which is done by the tester
